On a rainy day in late November, I decided that a nice bowl of ramen would be the perfect thing for lunch. So I parked on the street because the parking lot was completely full. I walked in and looked for the line. It was past check out. So I got in line waited for my turn to put my order in. I waited forty  minutes before I was able to order. As I passed but he window with all of the options, I decided to go for a large bowl of spicy ramen. It cost 8.50, not too pricey for a huge portion of noodles and soup. Then it was onto hunting for a seat in the jungle that is the food court. I watched like a hawk for a family about to get up, and I finally found. Good thing our food didn’t come to quickly. When the food did come, I was eager to devour it. It was nice and warm. The flavors were great, a perfect blend of spicy and salty. It didn’t take me too long to finish, but by the end, I had a cut in my finger from grasping the chop sticks too firmly. I really enjoyed my meal here, and afterwords, I was able to go shopping for japanese products like nori and bean cakes. All in all, it was great meal at a good price. I would just wait for the lunch rush to blow over next time.

Bill’s

I went to Bill’s on a Saturday morning, and man were they packed. It turned out to be around a forty five minute wait, so I went for a walk past Lincoln Ave and down past Baskin Robins, right in the center of Willow Glen. After my walk, it was a short wait until I could sit down. Our waiter greeted us at our table, and we ordered quickly, for we had a soccer game to attend afterwords. I ordered french toast, because I hadn’t had it in awhile. It came in good time, brought out by our waitress. At first glance, it didn’t look like anything special. It didn’t ring my bells when I first tasted it. It was relatively plain and dry, saved by maple syrup. The meal cost 11.25, a little bit much if you ask me.

Cafe San Jose

It was a wonderful fall morning when I arrived at this restaurant. After a brief ten minute wait, my family and I were seated at a table inside. Most of the walls were covered with San Jose themed posters. After a while, we were treated by a cheerful waiter. I, being in fall spirit, ordered pumpkin pancakes with chocolate chips. Now, you must be thinking, “Wait a minute, those don’t go together.” And believe me, I thought the same thing. Then my food came and my mind was completely changed. I was hesitant at first, being that pumpkin isn’t my favorite item to consume, but these pancakes were a good way to convince me. They were perfectly fluffy, and had a great taste as well. The orange tint also contributed to the fall spirit of the meal.  there were three pancakes in the stack, and I if had eaten any more of them, I would’ve exploded. However, the waiter that brought me this am,gazing meal, took a little longer than I thought. This meal cost me around nine dollars. not too pricey. So if you’re looking for a nice, unique meal, the you should definitely take this place for a spin.

Hawaiian Shaved Ice

I have always driven past this place, and wondered what it was like. So after I got some recommendations from a couple friends, I knew i had to try it. So I popped my head in one day after soccer practice. It was a nice small place, that had nice murals on the wall. I got a small, which turned out to be huge. These people know how to pack some ice. Anyways, I had a choice of three flavors, so I went for kiwi, watermelon, and raspberry. I really enjoyed this snack. The flavors really came through. However, it was really hard to eat with a spoon and the straw was pretty useless until the very end, when I slurped up the remains. This is a great place to come to sit down, have a nice snack, for a cheap price. After all, a small was only three bucks.

I came here on a cold day, looking for a hearty meal. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately warmed up, it was around eighty degrees in there. After waiting in a long line to order my food, I settled on some challah french toast. I was frothing at the mouth with anticipation of this delicious meal to be, made with the home made challah bread. While I was waiting, the waiter brought a basket of, not bread, but germane style soft pretzels. Man, I wish there were more of those, but then I might not have been able to finish my french toast. Right when I finished the pretzels, my breakfast came out. THis was one of the most elegant plates of french toast I’ve ever seen, and I couldn’t wait to dig in. It tasted wonderful, deliciously light and fluffy with a nice, crisp out side. This meal was relatively cheap, costing 8.95. I enjoyed sitting down and eating my breakfast, and i would love to come back here again.

Stumpy’s

Tonight, I elected to this new restaurant I’ve heard so much about. Located in the heart of down town Willow Glen, this was a place I definitely had to try. As I walked in the door, it became apparent that I would be sitting inside, as the inside seems to only tale the orders. So I ordered a bacon wrapped hot dog and a root beer. I walked out to one of the open tables (there weren’t many of them, the place was packed to the gills) that seemed to stick out into the street. The wind was blowing, and the air was chilly, I wish I’d brought a sweatshirt. I sipped my root beer, despite, the frigidness of the air, I wish the root beer had some ice in it. Then my food came out, in wonderful fashion. The hotdog was actually wrapped with bacon opposed to those one piece of bacon, false advertising hotdogs.  As well as looking good, the food tasted great, the bacon adding a nice crunch to the perfectly cooked, succulent beef hot dog. The fries were wonderfully salted. The dinner was also pretty cheap, racking in at 8.50, for the drink and the hotdog. This was a great overall meal, and I’m definitely coming back here in the future.

Blue Rock BBQ

3001 Meridian Ave, San Jose

I walked in, greeted by a huge menu with many barbecue options. I went with what I knew, ordering a plate of ribs, with hush puppies and and baked beans to go along with it. It didn’t take long for the food to come. I got to sit in a comfy booth, looking out one of the two huge widows. There was also a couple of buttress like things, sticking out of the wall. The food came on one of those classic blue with sparkles barbecue. The ribs tasted pretty good, however, they were a bit dry, aided by the sauce on top. I really liked the hush puppies, in all of there fried cornmeal greatness. They were nice and crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. The baked beans were a tad sweet, but I guess thats what I get for getting baked beans. my meal was decent and the service was likewise. I had to pay over 15 dollars fro my meal. Thats too expensive too expensive for food that is mediocre. The only reason I would come back here, is the proximity to my house.

I came here on a hot day looking, looking for a good place to cool off. I found this and much more in this restaurant. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly waitress. She sat us in front of one of many tv screens. It was nice and dark with air conditoning, perfect for cooling off. We were pretty hungry after a morning of soccer games, so we ordered nachos. These were some of the best nachos I’ve ever had, with the perfect amount of cheese, beans, and guacamole. while we  were feasting on nachos, a cheerful waitress took our order. I ordered a sweet and spicy burger, described to me as, a burger with jack cheese, topped with bacon coated with maple syrup and dipped in chili flakes. Not your average burger. While we waited for the food to arrive, countless tv screens showed sports, including the Giants game. They even had a huge projecter showing the NLDS. The food looked amazing when it came. It tasted amazing as well. The burger was cooked to perfection, and the jack cheese added a nice taste to the meal. But my favorite part was the bacon. The chili flakes and the syrup really complimented each other. The bacon was crunchy had a had a flavor not like much else. While the meal was tasty, it sat in my stomach like a rock. I really enjoyed my meal, and I would definitely come back here again, especially for a big sports game. This was a fantastic meal in a nice place with good service. However, it was a wee bit expensive, my burger cost 10.95. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Thai Spice

1102 Bird Ave San Jose

I came here after soccer practice, looking for a good meal and a place I could sit down and relax. I found both of these of in this restaurant. We sat in a comfortable both and a waiter took our order. I went for something spicy, pork with peppers. it didn’t take too long to come, and when it did, it looked great. It tasted great too. The pork had some serious kick to it, and the vegetables were tasty, and I don’t ever go for veggies. This was tasty meal in a cool looking place with comfortable seats. However, it was a little expensive , racking in at 10.95. This is definitley the place to go for good thai food.
